First of all, let me say that it is my intention to promote the shooting sports. This is my avenue for doing so. I
think that
one of the
problems
with
America
today, is
that
shooting
is being
vilified
by an
ignorant
(no
shit!),
paranoid
and mostly
feminized
population. To
a large
extent,
this is
our fault! When
I say our
fault, I
mean the
shooters
of
America.
By not
insisting
that our
family and
friends
get
involved,
we have
created
the
situation
we have
today.
If
nothing
else, we
should be
relentlessly
promoting
our sport.
One
person at
a time if
necessary-through
healthy
competition. One
of the big
problems
is that
most Joe
Blow
shooters
don’t
even know
these
avenues of
the
shooting
sports
exist.
If
1/10th
of all the
guys who
go to the
gunshows
actually shot,
one would
not be
able to
get on the
shooting
range
because of
all of the
crowds!
States
would be
forced to
build new
ranges
from all
the voter
outcry for
new
facilities!
There
are a lot
of average
gun owners
who do not
shoot in
competition.
There
are
numerous
reasons
for this,
varying
from being
busy (two
income
homes),
lazy (too
much TV),
intimidated
(a lot of
people do
not want
to find
out they
might
suck),
etc..
For
the most
part, they
don’t
shoot
because
they do
not know
how!
Frankly,
this
information
is just
not
available
to the
masses.
The
NRA,
for
example.
The
agenda
seems to
be guns
not shooting.
I
say
pacification
through
education.
Win
their “hearts
and minds”
so to
speak.
The
media so
easily
influences
ignorant
masses,
get rid of
the
ignorance. Problem
#2 is the
level of
snobbery
that
exists
inside the
competitions.
The
people
are not
snobs, the
rules
create
unwitting
snobs!
Who
came up
with these
dumbass
rules
anyway?
Certainly
not a
bunch of
average
Joe’s
who want
to shoot
for fun.
It
is
unfathomable
to me that
the NRA
does not
have an
“anysight”
(rifle
with a
scope)
Highpower
class.
It
is almost
like they
do not
want
an average
guy to
show up
with his
deer rifle
or varmint
rifle and
shoot
Highpower
at the
Nationals.
No,
instead he
has to
devote his
deer rifle
to
Highpower
shooting
and pay
somebody
for a
bunch of
modifications
to his
rifle
before he
can even
start.
I
am raving….
To
make a
long story
short, the
AR15
could be
the single
saving
grace to
the future
of
Highpower
Competition.
This may
sound
stupid,
but here
me out.
The
CMP is
certainly
not the
answer.
Selling
beat up,
rack grade
M1 Garands
to
everyone
who has already
shot in a
competition
is no
strategy
for the promotion
of the
sport!
Why
isn’t
the CMP at
the gunshows
promoting
shooting?
Selling
M1 Garands
and .22’s
to anyone
who will
sign up
for a
class?
These
are the
average
Joe’s
who need
the
information,
not the
shooters
already
affiliated
with
shooting
clubs. The
average
gunshow
variety
AR15 is
the answer. Most
regular
guys who
like to
shoot can’t
afford a
whole safe
full of
guns.
Because
of family
or
monetary
constraints,
a lot of
potential
enthusiasts
can only
afford one
really
nice gun
at a time.
Put
another
way, most
guys are
too cheap
to buy
exclusively
target
oriented
guns,
especially
a $1500
M1A.
I
can
understand
this
thinking.
Fortunately,
it is no
longer
necessary. Excellent
quality
post ban
AR15
varmint
rifles are
readily
available,
of high
quality,
and are
really
quite
inexpensive.
These
rifle can
be EFFORTLESSLY
upgraded
for
Highpower
competition
for less
than the
price of
a
decent
varmint
scope.
These
rifles are
highly
competitive
all the
way up to
the High
Master
class with
zero
modifications
(a fact
that few
gunsmiths
will
readily
admit)!
The
real
beauty is
that the
sights can
be removed
in
seconds
and
replaced
with a
Varmint
Scope for
a good
prairie
dog or
groundhog
hunt! Let
me show
you….
