Practicing Highpower Position Shooting

    Being a brand new Highpower shooter, I think there is an opportunity to discuss the learning curve that I am experiencing as I try to figure out this sport. I experienced this same type of learning curve as I attempted to learn the subtleties of striking a golf ball. I view golf as a similar activity for me, because like position shooting, I did not start this sport until I was an adult. A lot of people do not realize that this can define the learning curve for the participant. I definitely think that this fact influenced how I learned to play golf. Later, because of my experiences, I was able to more effectively teach other adults to play. Let me explain...

    I list golf as an example of a similar activity because it is also extremely difficult to master. There are certain sports that are relatively easy to learn but extremely difficult to master. Some good examples would be pool, racquetball, and bowling. These are common pastimes that just about anyone can learn to play and have a good time, but it takes very special focus and technique to become very proficient. I think shooting is in this category. Just about everyone can pull a trigger. Just about anyone can purchase a competitive rifle these days (speed is proportional to dollars "how fast do you want to go"). There is plenty of information available on the positions and operations of the course. There are also plenty of patient shooters who will help the beginning shooter learn the ropes.

First of all, let me just say ahead of time, that greatness defines itself. So anything I say, is just a singular view of how I perceive things, now and in the past. So if any of any my old golf coaches happen to read this, don’t take what I say wrong. Maybe I didn’t get it at the time, this doesn’t mean I don’t get it now. Similarly, I love reading the books about Highpower that are out there today. In fact, I digest them. These would include Tubb, Zydeker  and Feamster. But…
